Kid Art – from drawing to party favor

So – I actually did my own kid art yesterday with another one of Bridget’s drawings.  She has her ballerina birthday party this week and since she’ll be 5 she will have 5 little girls with her.  With a smaller number like that I feel like I can spend a little more time on the favors.  I used printable fabric sheets, a drawing of Bridget’s, Steam a Seam 2 and cotton fabric to decorate a plain white long-sleeved t-shirt.  OH – and some tulle for a tutu because it is a BALLERINA birthday party :).  I seem to be crazy about applique right now,  but it’s just so easy and fast – which is exactly why I like it since I’m usually instant-gratification-girl.  I copied Bridget’s drawing onto the printable sheet of fabric, put the drawing on a small piece of Steam a Seam 2, then placed that piece on a rectangle of fabulous fabric and ironed it all together.  Then I put the whole rectangle on another piece of Steam a Seam 2, cut that all out and ironed it onto the white t-shirt.  To give it a little sparkle, I folded a tulle poof in half and stitched it onto the tutu of Bridget’s drawing – TA DA!  Happy Tuesday all!

  1. I discovered your blog just the other day and was completely drawn in by those gorgeous skirts at the top of the page. I’ve been following your kid art posts and love this one! The tulle does it for me; a little bit of whimsy that I never would have imagined including. Can’t wait to see what you come up with next!
